Founding Mandate • 2026 Charter

Two old ideas.
One new institution.

For generations, the susu has anchored African community finance: a mutual rotating pool where ordinary people back one another when formal institutions turn away. Layered alongside this practice is ubuntu—the recognition that individual economic sovereignty is inseparable from collective stability. Ubuntu Susu formalizes this lived heritage into a sovereign, non-extractive endowment for micro-enterprises across the continent. We kicked off in October 2026. We launch in November 2026.

Our Vision
“An Africa where every micro-enterprise has access to patient capital rooted in mutual trust and collective strength.”

Our Mission
“To pool everyday public contributions with institutional matching capital, deploying non-extractive financing to the continent's smallest builders.”

What makes this different

A fundamental redesign of micro-capital architecture, built intentionally outside traditional charity conventions and predatory interest traps.

01 — Democratic Density

Starts at one dollar.

Low barrier, high collective momentum where wide-scale community participation directly anchors and triggers institutional matching commitments.

02 — Sovereign Lineage

Built on trust that already exists.

Honoring centuries of rotating credit circles, merchant cooperatives, and neighborhood solidarity without bureaucratic friction or predatory collateral demands.

03 — Fiduciary Duty

Governed from day one.

Independent fiduciary oversight, strict legal separation of custodial accounts, multi-party signing protocols, and scheduled independent external audits.

04 — Public Ledger

Open by default.

Real-time public rotation ledger, fully published board minutes, and quarterly balance sheet releases accessible to every single contributor.

Deployment Scope

Where we work

The fund activates through staged geographic corridors, allowing trust networks and custodial banking conduits to solidify before widening across contiguous trade belts.

Governance Integrity

The People

The Governing Board and founding team will be announced at launch.

To insulate fiduciary deliberations from celebrity patronage and speculative distraction, all appointed custodians, supervisory trustees, and regional directors operate under a single collective covenant finalized in October 2026.
